Meeting Information & Schedule
of the British Columbia Philatelic Society

The BC Philatelic Society meets weekly, September through June, in the South Community Room of the West Burnaby United Church, 6050 Sussex Avenue, in Burnaby, the suburb immediately east of Vancouver. The church is within easy walking distance of Metrotown SkyTrain Station and just a block north of the Kingsway.

We enjoy a wide range of activities at our meetings:

On alternating months we invite a speaker to discuss his or her philatelic specialty or schedule a special presentation such as a slide shows, "Show & Tell" programs, book nights, debates, etc.

Throughout the year, we enjoy some 20 Swap & Shop Socials, half on Monday mornings and half on Wednesday nights. You'll enjoy refreshments and a chance to peruse circuit books from the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada. Dealer members often bring stamps and covers to sell and trade, and there's always lots of philatelic chatter.

Once each month, we have a club auction, open to all members and guests; the club charges a commssion equal to 10 per cent of hammer prices. Donation lots, which don't have to be philatelic, are welcomed. Sellers should bring no more than six lots, and any number of donation lots. Auction lots should be thoroughly described, with the minimum acceptable bid indicated. The auction committee reserves the right to reject any lot offered for auction.

The club sometimes departs from the regular schedule for special programs or because of unforeseen circumstances. Summer doldrums are energized with a popular midsummer auction, in July.
